6" Wootz Nakiri

$700.00

Nakiris are designed as excellent vegetable knives, but they are also good for use on essentially all “soft” materials. Though it may look like a cleaver, a nakiri is not made for cutting through bone or other hard materials; the thin edge is not robust enough for these uses. I am particularly pleased with the direction the wootz pattern took in this blade, since it has the beginnings of a very good lamellar (watered) structure. It is not “all the way there”, but there is a lot to see in this blade.

The bolster is made from my own Nickel-Copper mokume, and I have added a piened brass spacer for extra interest. The handle is pheasantwood and amboyna burl.

Because there are some visible areas of decarb on the blade I am offering this at a lower rate than I would otherwise.

Overall Length: 300mm

Blade Length: 147mm

Width at Heel: 51.5mm

Spine Thickness at Heel: 2mm
