I have been making knives for over 30 years and explored many avenues of the craft during that period. Currently my focus is on chef knives and the crucible steel most commonly referred to as wootz, but a quick scroll through the examples on my website will indicate that I enjoy tackling a variety of challenges.

My home and shop are located in Waimea on the Big Island of Hawai’i. We are on former ranch land, but prior to being grasslands for cattle grazing this area would have been native forest. Along with making steel and knives, I am slowly making progress on replanting a portion of our property in native forest trees, such as koa, ohia, and sandalwood. These will not mature until long after I am gone, but we have to start somewhere!
