This knife is my interpretation of several curved, double-edged designs that are found in the India to North Africa region. I have made the blade using my own wootz steel, which has been heat treated to a roughly 60HRC edge hardness. Speaking of the edge, I have made this blade with keen edges front and back, but left the material thicker near the tip for extra reinforcement there.

The hilt of this knife is one that I purchased from Sandeep Singh, a renowned koftgari artist from India. The silver and gold koftgari work on this steel hilt is exquisite, while the handle itself is remarkably comfortable. The only modification is that I added a bronze and silver wire transition piece to provide the tighter transition that modern buyers are looking for.

The scabbard is made from koa wood and the inside is lined with sheep leather. The throat fitting is jeweler’s bronze that I have laser-etched with a floral motif of my own design.
